HISPANIC COMMUNITY LEADERS KICK OFF MAJOR GOTV EFFORT TO SUPPORT RICH NEGRIN FOR PHILADELPHIA DA

Philadelphia, PA – Today Hispanic community leaders in Philadelphia announced that they are supporting Rich Negrin for district attorney in the May 16 Democratic Primary election and officially kicked off a major get-out-the-vote (GOTV) operation in the Hispanic community to turn their words into action.

“With Rich Negrin we get more than an accomplished prosecutor with years of proven leadership experience,” said State Rep. Emilio Vazquez. “We get a hands-on, community-focused partner who wants to open new lines of communication and break down the barriers between the people who live in our neighborhoods and the people who keep us safe. That’s not just campaign rhetoric, that’s what Rich has been doing for years. He’s the clear choice for DA and we’re going to make sure every registered voter in the Hispanic community knows it. We’re going to put together a GOTV operation the likes of which no one has seen in our neighborhoods.”

“The Hispanic community is one of the fastest growing populations in Philadelphia and with Rich Negrin we have the opportunity to support someone who understands the challenges we face and the hopes and dreams of our families, friends, and neighbors,” said State Rep. Angel Cruz. “Unfortunately, in the past our impact at the polls has not been reflective of our growing influence in the city. That’s going to change in this election. We’re putting together a voter contact and GOTV program that will ensure that every person who is eligible to vote knows who Rich Negrin is and knows he has their backs.”

To date Negrin has been endorsed by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News, the Pennsylvania Democratic Latino Caucus, Eddie Lopez (president of SALEA and vice president of the National Coalition of Latino Officers), the Guardian Civic League, the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 5, and the Sheet Metal Workers, Local 19 just to name a few.
